McLELLAN TAKES FINAL
White grader Fraser McLellan ended up winning the formula II final on Saturday night and in doing so picked up the Chapman trophy in the process. McLellan had to make a good start to keep Willie Lindsay behind and then at the close came under pressure from George MacMillan over the last couple of laps.
LINDSAY TAKES TWO
After having finished working on his car on Friday night, Willie Lindsay certainly must have felt that it was all worthwhile when he went on to win the heats. A fourth in the final and then a second in the GN all added up to a good night's racing and a 36 points haul!
McLAUGHLIN'S FINAL
In the saloons it was Neil McLaughlin who went through to win the final. McLaughlin was seventh in the first heat but then had to retire from heat two but all was sorted for the final where he ended up leading for most of the time. However during the closing stages Robbie Burgoyne started to close the gap but whilst he got close it ended that way!
RICHARDSON'S BIRDS EYE VIEW
After all his exertions commentating on the comings and goings at the Racewall Dave Richardson was finally pressed into filling the passenger seat, which he did well, in James Jamieson's hot rod before being whisked around the track at break neck speed and given a bird's eye view of the wall! "You are a rotten lot" was one of the comments he made after his stint was over!
CHAS NEWS!
It is not yet known what the final total was raised for the CHAS charity night but over £3000 was raised at a disco on Friday night and over £900 in the helmets taken around the oval by Dennis Middler and George MacMillan.
TAUNTON'S JOY AND DESPAIR
The World Championship semi-finals were contested down at Taunton on Sunday with quite a few of the Scottish drivers either on the grid or on the reserve list. The first semi was won by Chris Bradbury from Robbie Dawson and Neil Hooper. Gordon Moodie won the second semi leading home Rob Speak and Mark Simpson. Bradbury starts from pole position.
