Turner's Talk - 18th July 2009

THREE FOR CAREY

Saloon driver Chris Carey is certainly in the grove at present and as a result moved up to the yellow grade. Now from there you would have thought he might have found it a wee bit harder to get amongst the points. Oh no – the bold Chris just goes and wins three races on the trot and picks up 30 points. Now with the points he has scored a blue roof beckons at the next grading and what after that?

STEWART WINS BURT MEMORIAL TROPHY

Leon Stewart hasn’t had the best of seasons to date but what a pick up he got on Saturday past. Leon easily qualified for the final and after a good race ended up in third place. But wait. The leading cars had had a bit of a go at each other and had been shown the back cross for their indiscretions.
The outcome? Stewart was elevated to first place and ended up winning the Jane Burt Memorial trophy.

CRACKING MINIS

The ministox drivers were in good form last week although Kira Bruce rolled her car and Scott Brandon was in a hard shunt.
Ross Watters won a couple of races and Robert Gamble the third but on each occasion Lyndsey Clyne had given them a good run for their money.
The Allcomers was the best race of the night with Kyle Irvine and Clyne swapping the lead over most of the race and sometimes a couple of times a lap!
Further back the race for fourth was every bit as hectic with Watters and Gamble also fighting for the position.

TV SHOW

Look for Alba TV televising the meeting tonight although the date when it will be shown is not as yet known. One of their presenters will be in a banger at the start of the meeting just to see what it is like and watch for a very interesting DD at the end of the night’s racing.

SCOTTISH 1-2 AT EURO

The formula II European Championship was staged at Northampton on Sunday with quite a few of our drivers down there to try to win the title. The defending champion was Tom Smart. However at the end of a hard race Gordon Moodie won the title and was followed home by Chris Burgoyne with the first of the English drivers Mark Simpson in third place.
