Turners Talk - 11th July 2009

POLLEY TAKES THE SCOTTISH

David Polley has a major goal this year – the National Points tally and the magical 100 meetings in a season - and in doing so is going to win a few titles on the way.
He did so at the meeting of the 27 June where he not only won the Scottish Championship but became the first English driver to do so since 2000 when Bryn Tootall won.
Polley also won a heat and the GN walking away with almost 40 points.

HAY TAKES MUNSTER TROPHY

At Crimond white grader Kevin Hay went through to win the Munster trophy final leading the race from start to finish but looking in his mirrors he could see Robbie Dawson bearing down on him from the half distance.

UK JOY FOR MOODIE

Gordon Moodie is well and truly back in the swing of things and after winning a heat on Saturday night at Skegness went on to win the UK Challenge trophy in convincing style leading home David Polley and Chris Bradbury to win his third UK title in four years.
There were some good shows from other Scots with Roy Anderson doing well but not getting the rub of the green whilst Chris Burgoyne, Stuart Mitchell, Kevin Bruce and Paul Reid all qualified for the main race.

UK JOY FOR ALDOUS

David Aldous was in great form in the saloons and went on to win the UK Challenge for saloons at Skegness by a comfortable margin. He started well in the race but got shuffled back the order a bit and when the cars ahead tangled he was through into the lead. Once there he charged away for an easy win with Gordon Alexander in fifth and Robbie Burgoyne in tenth place.
Aldous continued his winning ways by going on to win the Raymond Gunn Tribute race.

ALBA AT THE RACEWALL

Look for Alba TV heading to the Racewall for the meeting of the 25 July where they will be covering the 2 litre bangers with the possibility of one of their presenters having a run in a car before the meeting starts. The Driven to Destruction DD will be interesting with cars getting sent out in different directions and then when the flag drops - mayhem!
