Turner's Talk - 28th March 2009
THE BEETLE!
Did you notice the nice shiny yellowish Beetle on the centre green? Apparently it was obtained from Autospeed and Keith would like to thank quite a few people who helped him get it ready and they are EJB Autocare, Lindsay Wilson, John Campbell, Derek Bell and Premier Signs for their assistance – it was greatly appreciated.
IN THE BUSHES!
Once the Beetle was ready Keith and Paul Brown drove the car to the hotel where Dave Richardson were staying asking the receptionist to contact him and tell them that there was a limo outside to pick him up! Dave’s comments were my *** there is! When he came outside there was this Beetle sitting there but more surprisingly he found Keith and Paul in the bushes!
They then drove the beetle to the Racewall – must have good suspension!
ANDERSON GOES FOR A ROLL!
Kyle Anderson got caught up in the big shunt during the start of the second ministox race and ended up rolling his car and then sliding along the track on his side for a few metres. Happily Kyle stepped out unhurt.
MINIS IN GOOD FORM
There were 21 ministox at the track and they served up some fast and furious races. Wins went to Kevin Morrison, Kyle Irvine and Ross Watters but there were many a time that the drivers were scrapping side by side and not just for the lead. Keep it up boys and girls!
BURGOYNE’S SECOND FINAL
Chris Burgoyne charged away to win his second formula II final on the trot fuelling speculation that he will be making a serious bid for the silver roof this year. Probably find that Paul Ford will also be racing as often as he can as he too looks to make a challenge for the National Points.
Presently leading is Chris Bradbury who won the final at Birmingham on Saturday.
VAN CHAOS!
There were a lot of van bangers at the track on Saturday and whilst the first heat went according to plan the second did not with a pile up blocking the top bend. Despite the red flags being waved there were still some drivers continuing to try to wreck other vans and as a result the race was abandoned.
There were some hefty wallops in the final, which was won by Dougie Kidd whilst James Dillon came out on top in the DD.
