Turner's Talk - 9th May 2009
FORTUNE’S DEBUT WIN
John Fortune brought out his new RCE chassis to the Racewall on Saturday night and immediately showed that he is onto a winner.
As with all the Fortune cars it is immaculate, with a different paint scheme to his recent cars and whilst he was a bit tentative in his first heat was soon flying after that.
Although second across the line at the end of the final, the winner had been penalised for an infringement thus elevating him to the winner.
ROLLOVER
Despite all the action over the weekend there was only one rollover and that came right at the end of prostox final when Paul Muir and Grant Weston slid into the pit bend wall resulting in Muir’s car rolling.
MARTIN AT THE DOUBLE!
Siobhan Martin continues her remarkable progress in the stock rods and as a result ended up with yet another couple of wins this time from the yellow grade.
Her first win saw her having to fend off a few challenges but her second was as close as you could get and she only got her nose in front just a few yards from the finish line!
BEETLE JUICE!
There are rumours that the Racewall Beetle was seen parked half on half off on the big sweeping bend on the A92! I am told that Keith was informed that the car had to be moved – something that he did – but we wonder whether it was a case of no fuel and Keith was away getting juice for it!
BRUCE GRABS THE FINAL
After a good start to the season Lliam Bruce finally got the win he has been looking for in the prostox. Bruce was always handily placed in the final but when the leading car started to slow Bruce quickly reeled him in and then forged ahead. Despite a late challenge on the last bend Bruce managed to hold on to pick up his first prostox final win.
POLLEY’S WEEKEND AWAY!
It was good to see David Polley at the Racewall on Saturday night as he looked to get in as many meetings as he could over the bank holiday weekend.
Polley is second in the race for the National Points just now trailing Chris Bradbury by around 60 points so it was his chance to close the gap.
Coupled to that the Barford meeting on Sunday is a World Championship qualifying round and Polley is very difficult to beat there.
ELMA’S BIGGIE!
I am informed by a reliable source on the centre green, that Elma Paterson will be celebrating a “biggie” birthday this weekend.
Happy birthday Elma and many more to come!
