Turner's Talk - 30th, 31st May 2009

POLLEY AT THE DOUBLE

David Polley must have been delighted with his racing on Saturday night when he ended up with a 46 points haul and in doing so helped his cause in reducing the lead to Chris Bradbury in the National Points race.
It was only two laps from the end of the final that Polley pushed the then leader George MacMillan wide before going through to win.
In the GN a petrol fire in Stuart Mitchell's car suspended the race and allowed Polley to close right up to the back of the pack. Once the race restarted he slowly picked off those ahead for another fine win.

SALOONS AT PLAY!

There was plenty of saloon action on Saturday night with Stevie Honeyman returning and the appearance of Todd and Murray Jones.
There was a lot of hard and close racing although both Alan Stirling, Craig Millar and Lindsay Wilson might not agree after being on the receiving end of contact.
Frankie Cunningham won both of the heats before Todd Jones went through to win the final.

BRITISH SALOON CHAMPIONSHIP

This weekend we have one of the big saloon meetings of the year - the British saloon Championship with Luke Grief defending his title.
Grief has already been at the track where he had a very good outing and with both Todd and Murray Jones being there on Saturday we can expect some close encounters.
We can expect to see a good few drivers coming north along with the usual group of drivers from Northern Ireland to do battle!
The drivers will be qualifying for the Championship on Saturday night with the feature race taking place on Sunday afternoon with the Raymond Gunn tribute race taking place afterwards.

BANGERS ON THE OVER

The banger drivers were on good form on Saturday night with plenty of contact, spins as well as a couple of rollovers!
Greg Cochrane and Alan Duraj came to grief on the pit bend and rolled in separate incidents - the latter was rolled by a team mate.
Pete McVay and Stevie Allan were heat winners, McVay then won the final before Scott Ramsay went through to win the DD.

SPEAK ON THE COMEBACK!

It's now confirmed that ex-formula II World Champion Rob Speak will make his return to the single seaters on June 6th at the Racewall in the FII National championship.
There is a big turn out of cars expected and Speak's return will add a bit of an edge to the event.
