NEW RACEWALL FORMULA?
As always the GMP are looking to attract new forms of racing to the Racewall as they look for ways to attract and entertain the fans. On Saturday they had plenty of Manitous on hand to clear the bangers and I am led to believe that they tried racing them banger style on the way to the stadium!
MINI VISITORS
Making a welcome visit to the Racewall was ministox drivers Dale Moon and Kyle Picton who joined regular visitor Robert Gamble.
Gamble ended up with a win, a second and a third in his outings whilst the others finished in the lower order of the results.
DALE SNEAKS THROUGH
The outcome of the banger World Cup was decided during the closing stages of the race with Dale Hughes sneaking through to win. Mark Munson had taken over the lead when the leader was caught up and spun and second placed Robert Speak had to retire with damage.
When Munson had to slow to miss a shunt, Hughes nipped through to grab the honours to improve on his second place of last year.
ROLLERS!
As usual there was plenty of action, especially in the bangers and it came as no surprise when a couple of cars shunted only for the incident to grow to a major pile up!
Norman Moore only completed a couple of laps before he rolled and then later Tam Gordon and Simon Fixter carried out a synchronised roll on either ends of the pit bend!
Not to be outdone Kira Bruce rolled her mini on the main straight whilst Kyle Anderson was sent spinning in all three of his races.
SPEAKIE’S BACK!
It was good to see Rob Speak back in action even although it was in a banger. Speakie showed that he had lost none of his class and was running second in the World Cup for a while before having to retire with crash damage.
However he was back to win the consolation race and then the Scottish Open Championship.
NEW GRADES
The new grading period is now in effect and it changes where the drivers now start their racing.
Dennis Middler goes from blue to superstar in the formula IIs whilst Robin Little, Barry Folan, Robbie Newall and Alan Kirkaldy move to the red grades.
In the stock rods Andy Grant goes from yellow to superstar whilst Siobhan Martin moves from white to yellow although her points tally could have moved her to the superstar grade.
Biggest mover in the prostox is Grant Weston who goes from white to superstar and Ian Donaldson from yellow to red.
The hot rods are still to be run as their average points which moves last week’s winner Billy Bonnar from the front of the grid to the rear.
In the minis Gemma Russell goes to red and Louise Honeyman, Cammy McGowan and Kieran Howie to yellow.
