Turner's Talk - 25th April 2009
BONNAR AND NEWALL
The opening hot rod heat certainly wetted the appetite of the fans where Billy Bonnar got into the lead but then had David Newall swarming all over the back of him as he tried to overtake. Newall then went to the outside with the pair of then racing like that for a good few laps before Bonnar took the chequer.
Newall won heat two before Bonnar grabbed the final
BURGOYNE’S TREBLE!
Chris Burgoyne ended up with three wins to his name on Saturday and in the process chalked up a 49 points haul! Burgoyne started off with a heat in, then a second in heat two. He then proceeded to win the final before capitalising on a series of race suspensions in the GN before making it a final and GN double.
ANDERSON ROLLS!
Graham Anderson ended up rolling his ministox during the second heat after a challenge from Robert Gamble for the lead. Gamble ended up in the side of Anderson who then hit the wall and over he went!
GRADE CHANGES
There are a few grade changes in the formula IIs for their next outings. Dennis Middler goes to red and probably superstar whilst Robin Little, Barry Folan, George MacMillan and Alan Kirkaldy will be in the reds.
THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH
After being a spectator for seven years Keith Chesher is back in the hot rods using a Billy Bonnar car!
Although he spun in the opening heat, Chesher was soon back in the swing of things and ended up in seventh place in the final.
PANELS REQUIRED
It was good to see Rab Norrie back in the hot rods even although the only laps he completed were the warm up ones!
Perhaps Rab was a little too anxious at the start of the race where he brushed the wall before finding his steering was broken causing him to slide into the wall on the pit bend.
Anyone know where he can get panels for a hot rod?
BANGERS BY THE DOZEN
There will be “wall to wall” bangers in the pits this Saturday and if all the bangers booked in do arrive then we can expect to see a 100 car meeting!
The defending champion Dean Goodall has booked in and so too have a lot of the usual regulars including Shane Davies, Mark Whittaker, Dean French, Mark Merchant, Jack Overy and Dale Hughes. There are also rumblings that Team Stinkbridge will put in an appearance so expect to see fireworks!
BIRTHDAY BOY!
Whilst the bangers will take top billing did you know that mechanic to Michael Bethune, one Eric Bethune, is celebrating yet another birthday or so my snitch at Cowdenbeath informs me!
Have a good one Eric!
