Turner's Talk - 11th April 2009
IT’LL BE ALL “WHITE” ON THE NIGHT!
In the saloons the white graders certainly dominated the meeting winning all three of the races. Craig Millar won the two heats but ran into troubles on his way around to the grid for the final.
That let Dean Alexander take over, having started both heats from the back of the grid, he then promptly drove away from the pack to score his first saloon win at the Racewall.
To further compound matters in the prostox Grant Weston won the third heat and then the final and looked on his way to a win in the Allcomers only to have to retire after crash damage!
VISITORS
There were three or maybe four visiting drivers at the Racewall on Saturday night depending on how you look at things!
Luke Grief, chasing the silver roof, was a welcome addition in the saloons whilst in the formula IIs there were Steve Smith and Mickey Brennan.
The fourth could be Ian Thompson, but he now resides in the Kingdom, so does that now make him a “Fifer” by adoption!
SHUNTS
There were quite a few shunts over the night with Ally Noble ending up sitting on the bonnet of Fraser McLellan and then Garry Sime tangling with another before ending up in the wall.
Alan Stirling made a bold attempt to win the second saloon race only to crash out with the winner Craig Millar.
There was a big shunt during the opening prostox race, which depleted the field and then one on the main straight which left more than one car in a sorry state.
LIGHTNING RODS
Since GMP announced that they were looking at introducing the Lightning Rod formula there has been a lot of interest shown from drivers, some being ones that have retired, and, as a result, the first meeting for the Lightning rods will take place on May 16 with another scheduled for Knockhill on the13th June.
BURGOYNE’S THIRD
Chris Burgoyne took his formula II through to his third final win of the year on Saturday night. Burgoyne had earlier won the opening heat and then crossed the finish line on the back bumper of Dennis Middler and in the process extended his lead over Middler in the track points tile run by a further two points.
