Turner's Talk 4th June 2011

PATERSON GRABS EURO GLORY

Kerr Paterson seized his opportunity to go through to win the European Championship on Saturday night.
There were heat wins for Siobhan Martin, David Philp, Robert McDonald and Paterson and such was the closeness there were four drivers tied for the pole!
The dice for the lead over the first 11 laps proved to be hectic with the lead changing place on at least a couple of occasions with David Philp, Robert McDonald, Paterson and Siobhan Martin all running in close order. However when contact did occur it was Philp who spun, Martin took avoiding action whilst Paterson went through into the lead. Although under pressure from McDonald for a good many laps Paterson began to edge away during the closing stages to win.

HASTIE GOES TO PHILP

The last stock rod race of the night was for the Michael Hastie memorial trophy and it was David Philp who dominated the race carving his way through the field to score what turned out to be a comfortable win.

THOMSON ROLLS

Colin Thomson ended up rolling his car on the pit bend when the car went in wide, hit the wall and ended up rolling. Luckily he managed to scramble out unhurt!

MOODIE’S HAT TRICK

Gordon Moodie was again in great form at the Racewall scoring yet another hat trick of wins. That was 30 points and had the GN not been cancelled then I am sure that he would have added another handful of points as he looks to another National Points championship.

FORMULA II WHITE/YELLOW

The opening heat this Saturday will be another of the white/yellow challenge rounds and it will be interesting to see just how the drivers will fare from their new grades, which start at the first of the month.

FORMULA II QUALIFYING ROUNDS

It’s going to be a busy time of it for the formula II drivers over the next week or so with three World Championship qualifying rounds in the space of a few weeks.
The first is the Crimond round which is on the 5th June and then to the Racewall for the qualifying round on the 11th June. The Knockhill round is on Wednesday night the 22nd June. Even although the World Final is on shale at Kings Lynn I would expect to see quite a few Scots on the grid!
