LATTKA’S SCOTTISH DELIGHT
Chris Lattka has added his name to the prestigious Scottish Championship in only his first year in the saloons although he is no stranger to winning championships as he demonstrated in the stock rods. However the saloons are a totally different entity and Chris has not had too easy a time of it since he changed over at the beginning of the season. However things all came good and despite having to start the race from row 4 Lattka soon forced his way through the field and then into the lead. Once there he had a useful lead only to see that disappear when lapping the back markers. Despite Gordon Alexander closing right up, Lattka held on to become the new champion.
THE JONES BOY IS BACK!
After a few “I will be out next week”, Barry Jones finally made it to the Racewall with his brand new car but using the “old” engine. The car looked immaculate and despite having to start from the back of the Scottish Championship grid ended up in seventh place. Yes the Jones boy is back and on a regular basis he tells me!!!
SMART- WELL MAYBE YES, MAYBE NO!
Well done to Kevin Smart, who in his first year of formula II racing, has moved up to the blue grades courtesy of his first final win on Saturday night. Smart led the race from start to finish and despite having Ryan Walker right on his back bumper held on to win. In the GN he goes and rolls his car after tangling with Steve Donavan wrecking his wing in the process. Now fair enough he needs a blue one for next Saturday but a yellow one was needed for the Highland Fling at Crimond on Sunday!
FORMULA II POINTS
The formula II points are getting a bit closer at the Racewall although Gordon Moodie has a lead of 91 points at present. Paul Ford is now second some 10 points clear of Robbie Dawson whilst the defending champion John Fortune is now fourth and a further 23 points adrift.
HIGHLAND FLING
Graham Kelly went through to win the Highland Fling at Crimond on Sunday although it wasn’t until late on during the race that he finally got ahead of Iain McLean. Additional prizes were presented to Graham Kelly, Iain McLean, Robbie Dawson and Mark Souter courtesy of Alves Autos whilst Lee Livingston was presented with a bottle of whisky after his van broke down on the way back from the Racewall and he didn’t get picked up until the wee sma hours. There are rumours that by the time he got assistance he had the diff changed in the stock car.
