If you drove a prostox at the Cowdenbeath Racewall on Saturday night it was good to be called Thomas, in any shape or form as the first three home in the World Cup were of that ilk albeit Agnew, Price and Melrose.
The prostox World Cup turned out to be a cracking race with quite a few race suspensions, plenty of spins and shunts but at the end of the night Thomas Agnew from Northern Ireland went home with the title.
Whilst the racing was good the other excitement came in an announcement from the owners of the GMP when they confirmed that the Racewall track was to be resurfaced, the wall redone, the infield fence replaced with tyres and a new spectator car park in a two year upgrade.

ANOTHER MOODIE HAT TRICK
The first of the formula II races was another round of the white/yellow challenge series with Tam Meikle going through to win from Marc Fortune and Ian Forster. The opening heat saw Gordon Moodie go through to win  from George MacMillan Jnr and Dennis Middler. In heat two Moodie again took the win this time from Robbie Dawson and Alan Kirkaldy. The final ended with Moodie recording a hat trick of wins and this time he led home MacMillan Jnr and Kirkaldy. MacMillan Jnr then won the Grand National from Kirkaldy and Dawson with Moodie in fifth place.

SHEVILL JNR GRABS ANOTHER FINAL
The saloon drivers were in top form and again there was plenty of shunts and spins. Heat one saw Stuart Drobinski go through to win from Scott Chisholm and Barry Russell. In heat two Ian McLaughlin grabbed the win and he was ahead of Stuart Shevill Jnr and Drobinski. The final saw Shevill Jnr grab his first win of the night and he was ahead of McLaughlin and Drobinski at the chequer.

BONNAR’S THREE IN A ROW
The hot rod World Championship qualifying round saw plenty of close and fast arcing. Heat one saw Billy Bonnar went through to win from Wayne Lee, Graeme Callender and McLaren. Bonnar again took the honours in heat two this time from Callender, Lee and McLaren. In the Fife Engine Services final Bonnar made it a hat trick of wins as he led home McLaren and Callender.

AGNEW TAKES WORLD CUP
There was a good turn out of cars for the prostox World Cup including four from Northern Ireland whilst the defending champion Ally McDonald was hoping to defend his title.
The first race was the last chance qualifying race with Ian Taylor going through to win from Allan Potts and Kev Bell.
The draw turned out to be an interesting one with Scottish Champion Patrick Calderwood on pole position and alongside him was Kevin Letford whilst the defending champion Ally McDonald was on row three. When the race started Calderwood led the field away from Letford but on lap two there was a shunt on the pit bend involving Tam Taylor and Alex Rogan which suspended the race. Calderwood got the race underway but after Grant Weston had been shunted into the wall the leaders crashed into his car suspending the race again. McDonald was the new leader from Stewart Aitken but the latter was edged wide as Thomas Agnew moved into second place but on lap 7 another shunt brought out the yellow flags.
McDonald led Agnew on the restart with Keith Abernethy in third but he had Tam Page in close order. However when Paul Reid crashed heavily into the pit bend wall the race was suspended once again. This time the field lined up behind Agnew and once the race got underway Agnew slowly pulled away from the pack. McDonald dropped a couple of places with Page moving into second with T. Melrose in third a couple of laps later. That is how it stayed with Agnew winning the World Cup from Page and Melrose with Strathie in seventh and Ross in ninth place.
John Green won the consolation race from Billy Finnigan and Jardine Millar whilst the final went to Finnigan who led home Millar and T. Melrose to the chequer with Ramsay in tenth place.
